Slate House New Build

This site was home to four garages used for storage. We were approached to design a house that was first and foremost suitable for the client’s family needs. Socialising, entertaining and integrating outside and inside were paramount to the site. Due to the constraints of the site, it was agreed that two large ‘underground’ gardens enabled basement living that was in no way dark and dingy, but in fact very light, and exciting to use. Each bedroom has direct access to outdoor space, where the clients have climbing walls, secret gardens and outdoor cinema walls. Construction was reinforced concrete, with SIP panel on the ground floor. An excellent way to ensure an airtight (or close to) property – so the use of MVHR was needed. PV and ASHP for renewables ensure a very good EPC and highly sustainable house.
